Our algorithm considers multiple factors that make wrestling matches memorableβnot just who won, but how they won.
The Five Excitement Factors

- β’ 12 pts β Regionals, State Qualifiers, Districts
- β’ 8 pts β Conference, Major Invitationals

Excitement Score Ranges
Overtime thrillers, dramatic comebacks at state finals, high-scoring wars that end in sudden victory. These are the matches people talk about for years.
Very close decisions, late pins, back-and-forth action. These matches deliver consistent entertainment and are worth watching on replay.
Good action, competitive throughout. Standard quality wrestling that's enjoyable to watch but may not be memorable.
One-sided matches, quick pins, or low-scoring defensive battles. Still competitive wrestling, but not edge-of-your-seat drama.
Forfeits, injury defaults, or extremely lopsided matches. These are excluded from most excitement-based rankings.
Example Matches
