California and Oregon Wrestlers to Watch at Fargo 2026
By Scott Donalson Β· May 18, 2026
California is the largest wrestling state on the West Coast with more than 22,500 rostered wrestlers and over 622,000 matches in the database. Oregon adds another 5,000-plus rostered wrestlers and a wrestling culture that punches well above its weight. Both states are building freestyle and Greco-Roman pipelines that translate directly to Fargo success, and the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals should see strong delegations from both.
California's strength starts in the Central Valley, where the Clovis-area programs are a genuine factory. Paul Ruiz of Buchanan leads the state at 2526 on a 54-5 record with a 2164 freestyle rating. His Buchanan teammate CJ Huerta (2460, 40-4) and Paris Ruiz (2337, 38-5) give the program three rated wrestlers. At Clovis North, Jonathan Rocha (2489, 45-3) and Siraj Sidhu (2366, 61-13) add depth, with Sidhu carrying a 2144 freestyle rating. Leilani Lemus of Clovis (2482, 47-2) rounds out the Clovis pipeline with a 2061 freestyle rating. That cluster of talent from a handful of neighboring schools is one of the deepest in the country.
Beyond the Central Valley, California's girls program is among the strongest in the nation. SJ Martin of Granada (2434, 58-4), Jestinah Solomua of Corona (2424, 75-6), and Symone Jewell of Northgate (2413, 77-4) all carry ratings above 2400. Jewell stands out with a 2114 freestyle rating, and Sanchir Edington (2369, 165-28) brings both volume β 165 wins β and a 2112 freestyle rating. On the boys side, Mason Ontiveros of John H Pitman (2436, 46-4), Chris Creason of El Diamante (2422, 51-3), and Kross Cassidy of Fairfax (2402, 84-6) add depth. Seth Wynn of Lebanon (2369, 120-11) has logged 120 wins and carries freestyle and Greco ratings both near 1900, and Vinnie Gutierrez of Fountain Valley (2353, 97-19) brings a 2074 freestyle rating.
Oregon is a smaller state, but its top end is impressive β particularly the girls. Jadyn Pense of St. Helens leads Oregon at 2415 on a perfect 51-0 record. Polly Olliff of Dallas (2374, 38-0) is also undefeated. Two unbeaten girls at the top of a state's rankings is rare. Audrey Robinson of Legacy Elite Wrestling Club (2312, 52-4) has one of the best cross-style profiles in the region with a 2149 freestyle rating and a 2126 Greco-Roman rating. On the boys side, Crater is Oregon's deepest program: Kutter Christensen (2327, 57-5), Ryland Walters (2319, 80-7), and Aidan Godley (2278, 65-6) all come from the same school. Isaac Conner of Mountainside (2357, 128-14) leads Oregon's boys with genuine cross-style credentials β a 2016 freestyle and 2027 Greco-Roman rating β and Leif Larwin of Bend (2339, 104-13) adds volume.
The West Coast wrestling identity is different from the Midwest and East. California produces talent through sheer volume and geographic clusters like Clovis, where multiple schools within a few miles of each other drive competition upward. Oregon produces talent through toughness and pipeline programs like Crater, which sends five wrestlers to this list from a single school in southern Oregon. Both states have invested in girls wrestling earlier than many, and it shows: California and Oregon both have multiple girls rated above 2300 with legitimate freestyle and Greco credentials for Fargo.
